Αν υπάρχει αυτόν τον καιρό μια ταινία που χτίζει σιγά σιγά ένα μεγάλο χάηπ, φίλες και φίλοι, αυτή είναι το 1917, το πολεμικό έπος του Sam Mendes που επιστρέφει στην ενεργό δράση 4 χρόνια μετά την αποχώρησή του από το σύμπαν του James Bond. Σ’ αυτήν την ιστορία από τον Α’ Παγκόσμιο Πόλεμο, θα ζήσουμε λίγο-πολύ δύο ώρες σε πραγματικό χρόνο, αφού όπως φαίνεται το φιλμ θα είναι ένα συνεχόμενο δίωρο μονόπλανο (ή τουλάχιστον αυτήν την αίσθηση θα δίνει) μέσα στα χαρακώματα δια χειρός του μεγάλου Roger Deakins. Έπος δηλαδή. Κι ενώ η ταινία αναμένεται στις ελληνικές αίθουσες τέλη Δεκέμβρη ή αρχές Γενάρη, οι πρώτες αντιδράσεις των κριτικών και του προνομιούχου κοινού που ήδη είδε την ταινία αποκλειστικά στη Νέα Υόρκη δίνουν μια καλή, πολύ καλή εικόνα. Η ιστορία των δύο στρατιωτών που τρέχουν ενάντια στον χρόνο για να παραδώσουν ένα πολύ σημαντικό μήνυμα, λοιπόν, συγκίνησε τα μάλα όσους την παρακολούθησαν και απέσπασε αποθεωτικά σχόλια, με κάποιους να μιλάνε για την καλύτερη πολεμική ταινία μετά το Saving Private Ryan.
