Συνεχίζει την σαρωτική πορεία του προς το Όσκαρ το Poor Things, σε περίπτωση που αναρωτιόσασταν. Η πιο πρόσφατη στάση ήταν οι υποψηφιότητες για τα βραβεία BAFTA (τα βρετανικά Όσκαρ δηλαδή) που ανακοινώθηκαν χτες, και στις οποίες, ω τι έκπληξη, η νέα ταινία του Γιώργου Λάνθιμου βρίσκεται ανάμεσα στις επικρατέστερες με 11 υποψηφιότητες συνολικά.
Η Βρετανική Ακαδημία Κινηματογράφου βέβαια έδωσε τις περισσότερες υποψηφιότητες στο Oppenheimer του συμπατριώτη τους Christopher Nolan, η οποία παρεμπιπτόντως (παρά το εξόχως αμερικάνικο θέμα της) είναι η πιο πετυχημένη ταινία του σκηνοθέτη στη Μεγάλη Βρετανία.
Μετά το Oppenheimer, το Poor Things έρχεται δεύτερο σε υποψηφιότητες, με τον Λάνθιμο όμως να εξαιρείται από την κατηγορία της Καλύτερης Σκηνοθεσίας, επιλογή για την οποία τα BAFTA θα έχουν πολύ κακό πρόβλημα. Ας σημειώσουμε επίσης ότι ποψήφιος είναι και ο Γιώργος Μαυροψαρίδης στην κατηγορία του μοντάζ.
Κατά τ’ άλλα, Killers of the Flower Moon και The Zone of Interest τσίμπησαν από 9 υποψηφιότητες, ενώ το Barbie συνεχίζει προς το παρόν να χάνει την Barbenheimer μάχη των βραβείων με 5 υποψηφιότητες. Κατά τ’ άλλα, έχουμε και δύο ακόμα ελληνικές υποψηφιότητες (συμ)παραγωγών: του Κωνσταντίνου Κοντοβράκη για το How to Have Sex και του Γιάννη Μανολόπουλου για το Yellow.
