Ήταν μια παράξενη χρονιά το 2021. Για τον πλανήτη, για την ανθρωπότητα, για όλους μας. Και, φυσικά, για το σινεμά. Μ’ αυτήν την έννοια, τα 93α Όσκαρ που απονεμήθηκαν χτες το βράδυ ήταν εξαιρετικά σημαντικά, αφού βράβευαν τις καλύτερες ταινίες μιας χρονιάς όπου κινδύνευσε το ίδιο το σινεμά. Την ίδια ώρα, επίσης, ήταν αρκετά αδιάφορα, αφού οι περισσότερες ταινίες δεν δημιούργησαν κάποια ιδιαίτερη αίσθηση στους θεατές. Ήταν μια αμήχανη βραδιά, για να το πούμε κάπως έτσι. Χοντρικά, τα μεγάλα φαβορί επιβεβαιώθηκαν. Δηλαδή μεγάλος νικητής της βραδιάς βγήκε το Nomadland της Chloe Zhao με βραβεία Καλύτερης Ταινίας, Καλύτερης Σκηνοθεσία και Α’ Γυναικείου Ρόλου για την Frances McDormand (τρίτο αντίστοιχο συνολικά για την υπερ-λατρεμένη ηθοποιό στην καριέρα της). Αν υπήρχε κάποια έκπληξη στη βραδιά αυτή ήταν ουσιαστικά η μη-βράβευση του Chadwick Boseman με ένα μεταθανάτιο Όσκαρ, αφού το βραβείο πήγε εν τέλει στον Anthony Hopkins για την (φοβερή όντως) ερμηνεία του στο The Father, ο οποίος βέβαια δεν ήταν παρών ούτε καν με τηλεδιάσκεψη αλλά ευτυχώς όχι λόγω άνοιας όπως ο χαρακτήρας του. Στην μάχη μεταξύ πλατφορμών και στούντιο νικητής αναδείχθηκε το Netflix με 6 Όσκαρ, ενώ η κατάταξη των ταινιών της βραδιάς βάσει κερδισμένων βραβείων είχε ως εξής: Nomadland (3), Sound of Metal (2), The Father (2), Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom (2), Mank (2), Soul (2).
